A 2004 graduate from the University of West Florida, Commander Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. He is originally from Pensacola, Florida and graduated Officer Candidate School in May 2008.
A career surface warfare officer, Commander Miller’s shipboard assignments include USS CROMMELIN (FFG 37) as Ordnance Officer and Electrical Officer, USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99) and USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62) as Chief Engineer.
Additionally, he was the final Commanding Officer of USS FIREBOLT (PC 10). Ashore, he served as a Detachment AOIC for RIVERINE SQUADRON THREE and 8th Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy. He was an Augmentee to Commander Naval Forces Korea serving as a Maritime Response Planner and liaison to the ROK Navy staff. He also served as the Operations Officer at Task Force 59 forward deployed in Manama Bahrain. He is currently the prospective Commanding Officer of the USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG 96).
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
