Command Master Chief Joezette D. Julien

Command Master Chief, USS Tortuga (LSD 46)

24 October 2023  Command Master Chief (CMDCM) Julien was born in 1983 in San Diego, CA.  She graduated from Samuel F.B. High School in San Diego, CA in 2001. CMDCM enlisted in the Navy on September 11, 2001, and successfully completed Recruit Training and Hospitalman Training at Naval Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in 2002.

Upon completion of Pharmacy Technician “C” School in Norfolk, VA, CMDCM Julien reported to Branch Health Clinic Sewell’s Point.  CMDCM transferred to Naval Hospital Rota, Spain advanced to Third Class Petty Officer and subsequently deployed to Al Taquadum, Iraq in 2007 CMDCM Julien transferred to 1st Medical Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA where she deployed for two Campaigns in Iraq, achieved FMF qualification and Unit Navy Commendation during combat with the enemy forces.  CMDCM Julien advanced to Second Class Petty Officer and transferred to Surface Independent Duty Corpsman (IDC) “C” school at Surface Warfare Medical Institute where she graduated top of her class and advanced to First Class Petty Officer.

In June 2011, CMDCM Julien reported onboard Coastal Riveron Squadron as Bravo Company’s Senior Medical Department Representative (SMDR).  She completed nine missions over various AORs in AFRICOM, EURCOM, CENTCOM, PAC, achieved EXW qualification, and reported as SMDR for Force Antiterrorist Security Team 2nd Marine Division during the attack on Bengazi. She was selected for Chief Petty Officer August 2014.  In January 2015, CMDCM Julien was selected for Enlisted Women In Submarines Program.

In June 2015, she reported on board Naval Undersea Medical Institute where she successfully completed conversion from Surface to Submarine IDC.  CMDCM Julien served as Medical Department Representative (MDR) onboard USS NEW HAMPSHIRE and USS GEORGIA (SSGN 728) (GOLD) filling a critically gapped billet before she reported onboard USS FLORIDA (SSGN 728) (BLUE) as MDR July 2016.  There she completed various missions in U.S. 6th and 5th Fleet AORs, achieved SS, COW and DCPO qualifications and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer May 2018. She reported onboard Naval Health Clinic New England as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command New England Detachment Saratoga Springs, New York March 2019 to July 2021.  On February 17, 2021 CMDCM Julien was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program as the Command Senior Chief for the USS Lewis B Puller (ESB-3) Gold. February 22, 2023, CMDCM Julien was selected for Master Chief and June 2023 reported as the Command Master Chief for the USS Tortuga (LSD 46).

CMDCM Julien is authorized to wear the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (w/bronze star and FMF emblem), Battle E, MOVSM (3 awards) and other campaign, unit, and service awards.
