Michael D. Bonner was born in Monterey, California and enlisted in the United States Navy in June 2004. After Pass and Review at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois he attended and graduated Hospital Corpsman “A” School.
Master Chief’s operational tours include the Georgia Sustainment and Stability Operations Program; Republic of Georgia(Field Medical Technician. The USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD6)(Preventive Medicine Technician). OEF11; II MEF Fwd RC/SW Afghanistan(Field Medical Technician/Preventive Medicine Technician). Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) (Disaster Preparedness Operations and Training Specialist). The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN75) (Preventive Medicine Technician/Medical DLCPO). The USS Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller (ESB 3) Blue where he served as Command Senior Enlisted Leader, and the USS Ross (DDG 71) where he currently serves as Command Master Chief.
His Shore Commands include, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, California. Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida and the Navy Environmental & Preventive Medicine Unit TWO where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Master Chief holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy class 242 (Orange), and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course class 21110.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5th award), and numerous other operational and unit awards to include the Battle “E” with Silver Wreath.
