Lieutenant Commander Richard Rodriguez is a native of Naranjito, Puerto Rico. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2013.
Lieutenant Commander Rodriguez completed division officer tours afloat on USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) as the Strike Officer and then onboard USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG 96) as the Fire Control Officer. He completed department head tours onboard USS DELBERT D. BLACK (DDG 119) and USS Shiloh (CG 67) as Operations Officer on both.
Ashore, Lieutenant Rodriguez earned his Master of Business Administration degree at the Naval Postgraduate School where his thesis earned the Distinguished Professor Kenneth J. Euske Dean’s Medal for Innovative Contribution to National Defense. He later served as the Executive Assistant to the Commandant at the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, DC.
Lieutenant Rodriguez’s personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and multiple service awards.
