CDR Jason A. Fite is a native of Houston, Texas and commissioned in 2007 through Navy Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University (BA, History and Political Science), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv, Church History), and the Naval War College (JPME I, Distinguished Graduate). He is completing degrees at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary (ThM, Historical Theology) and Old Dominion University (BS, Astrophysics).
At sea, CDR Fite served a single long Division Officer tour aboard USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81) where he served as Auxiliaries Officer, Gunnery/Ordnance Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer. His Department Head assignments were as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer on USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53), the Navy’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense test ship.
CDR Fite’s subsequent sea duty was as the Detachment OIC, Operations Officer, and a forward deployed Tactical Action Officer at U.S. Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System Romania. CDR Fite’s most recent sea duty was as the Staff Director and Operations Officer (N3) for Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO EIGHT. This tour included a dynamic SIXTH FLEET deployment during the lead-up and start of the Russia-Ukraine War in February 2022.
Ashore, CDR Fite served as the Senior Naval Science Instructor/Company Officer at the Houston NROTC Consortium (Rice University) and as Executive Officer of Mariner Skills Training Center Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia.
CDR Fite reported for duty as Executive Officer of USS PORTER (DDG 78) in June 2024.
CDR Fite’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and the Navy Accession Training Service Ribbon.
