Command Master Chief Gonzalez is a native of Indio, California. A graduate of Indio High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended recruit basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in August 2000. Upon completion of boot camp, he attended Fireman Apprenticeship Training at Naval Training Center also in Great Lakes. His first duty station was aboard USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47) home ported in San Diego, California.
 
In May 2002, he struck into the Master-at-Arms rate and reported to MA “A” school in San Diego, California. His assignments as a Master-At-Arms include, Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa Japan, Naval Air Facility El Centro, California, Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, Naval Support Activity Manama, Bahrain, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington as Security Department LCPO, Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan as Security Operations Officer, Commander, United States SEVENTH FLEET as N3 Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer, and Naval Station Rota, Spain as Security Department Senior Enlisted Advisor. He currently serves as Command Master Chief aboard USS BULKELEY (DDG 84).
 
Command Master Chief Gonzalez completed two successful Individual Augmentee (IA) tours to include six months with U.S. MILGROUP Bogota, Colombia serving as a Force Protection Liaison and ten months at Camp Lemonnier Djibouti, Africa as Assistant Watch Commander leading seven coxswains.
 
He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 236 Gold) and CMC/COB Course (Class 24080). He holds an associate degree in general studies from Central Texas College and is actively pursuing his bachelor’s degree in leadership from Trident University.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and service awards. He is qualified as an Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and Naval Security Forces Master Specialist.
