Command Master Chief Thomas Mace hails from Cocoa Beach, FL. He enlisted in the Navy in 1999 and reported to basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL.
Master Chief Mace assumed the duties as Command Master Chief, Naval Surface Squadron Southeast on June 26, 2024.
At sea, Master Chief Mace’s assignments include PATROL SQUADRON SIXTEEN (VP-16) as Work Center Supervisor, and MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY SECURITY DETACHMENT 823 (MESD 823) as the Training Chief and Senior Enlisted Leader. He then served as the Headquarters Senior Enlisted Leader aboard COASTAL RIVERINE SQUADRON TEN (CRS 10). He served as the first Command Master Chief of USS DANIEL INOUYE (DDG 118) and as the Command Master Chief of USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7).
His shore assignments include MARINE HEAVY HELICOPTER TRAINING SQUADRON 302 (HMT-302) as an aircraft mechanic, Naval Security Force Bahrain as a Tactical Supervisor, Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL where he served as the Security Department Leading Petty Officer and as the Command Investigator, Command Senior Chief of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Columbus, OH, and as the Command Master Chief of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign, service and unit awards. Additionally, he has qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Expeditionary Warfare Specialist.
Master Chief Mace graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College with an Associates of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Management from Franklin University. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 181 Brown, the CMC/COB course and the Advanced CMC Course.
