CDR Lee Shewmake is a native of Leslie, Georgia. He is a 2004 graduate from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He received his commission from Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida in 2007. In 2013, he graduated from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California where he received his Master of Business Administration in Material Logistics Support.
As a Surface Warfare Officer, he served as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Auxiliaries Officer aboard USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61). Upon completion, he was stationed onboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86) as Fire Control Officer. His department head tours include USS SAMPSON (DDG 102) as Chief Engineer and USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) as Operations Officer. He is assigned as a Fleet-Up from Executive Officer to Commanding Officer on USS ST. LOUIS (LCS 19).
For his shore duties, he was an instructor at AEGIS Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) Dahlgren, Virginia, Surface Strike Requirements Officer for OPNAV N96, and an Action Officer for the Joint Staff J8, Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization (JIAMDO).
His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, six Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three Battle ‘E’ awards, and various service awards.
He is married to a fellow Surface Warfare Officer, CDR Sian E. Stimpert. He resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, two sons, and their Australian Shepard.
