Command Master Chief Andrew Conover is a native of Tallahassee, Florida.  He graduated from high school in Powhatan, Virginia, then attended John Tyler Community College, followed by Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied Guitar/Jazz Performance.  He enlisted in the Navy in January, 2001 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois and Musician "A" School at Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Upon graduation he was assigned to U. S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia as a Guitar instrumentalist.  During this period, he was assigned to the Unitas Band where he deployed with USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) supporting Unitas exercises throughout South America, and the Caribbean.
 
In December, 2004, he transferred to U. S. Naval Forces Europe Band in Naples Italy.  While stationed there, Command Master Chief Conover served as Guitar instrumentalist, and Unit Leader, while performing in over 30 countries throughout Europe and Africa.  Additionally, he deployed onboard USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44), USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50), USS EMORY S. LAND (AS 39), HSV-2 SWIFT, and USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) in support of Africa Partnership Station, and onboard USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68) in support of the Black Sea Cruise.   
 
In January, 2008, Command Master Chief Conover returned to Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia as a First Class Petty Officer for C-School. After graduating, he reported onboard Naval School of Music where he served as Guitar and Rehearsal instructor, Branch Head, Division Head, and Master Training Specialist Program Coordinator. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer and pinned in September, 2011. In August, 2013, he attended a second C-School and became an Enlisted Band Leader.
 
In July, 2014, Command Master Chief Conover transferred to Navy Band Great Lakes, in Great Lakes, Illinois, where he served as Enlisted Band Leader, Operations Department Head, and Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer.  At this duty station, he oversaw the support of Navy Weeks and public affairs engagements in an 11-state Area of Responsibility, in addition to weekly ceremonial coordination of Recruit Training Command Graduations, while performing daily Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer duties.
 
In November, 2017, Command Master Chief Conover reported to U. S. Pacific Fleet Band, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he served as Enlisted Band Leader, Administrative Department Head, Operations Department Head, Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer, and Acting Senior Enlisted Leader. He was deployed twice as Leading Chief Petty Officer for Host Nation Outreach Events onboard USNS MERCY (T-AH 19), and USNS BRUNSWICK (T-EPF 6) in support of Pacific Partnership 2018 and 2019. He served on the Pacific Partnership 2022 planning team as subject matter expert, and primary planner for Host Nation Outreach Events and multiple Public Affairs Lines of Effort in support of the annual Pacific Partnership mission. Command Master Chief Conover completed the CSEL Program with an underway portion onboard USS CHUNG HOON (DDG 93), and was selected for Command Senior Chief in 2022.  He reported as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Pre-Commissioning Detachment CLEVELAND (LCS 31) in July 2022, and USS BILLINGS (LCS 15) as Command Senior Enlisted Leader in April 2023. He reported to USS NORMANDY (CG 60) in May 2024 as Command Master Chief.
 
Command Master Chief Conover is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, CMC/COB School, and has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), the Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), the National Defense Service Medal (one award), the Global War on Terrorism Medal (one award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (two awards).  Command Master Chief Conover is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist breast insignia, and is a designated Master Training Specialist, and Master Training Specialist Mentor.
