LCDR Joshua Baker enlisted from Washougal, Washington serving 12 years enlisted as a Missile Technician onboard USS Kentucky (SSBN 737), and USS OHIO (SSGN 726). He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) while stationed at Strategic Weapons Facilities Pacific (SWFPAC). He commissioned through Naval Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2014. Additionally, he earned his Master’s degree in Operations Research from Naval Postgraduate School and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I through the Naval War College in 2019.
Afloat, LCDR Baker has deployed to U.S. 2nd, 6th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. His shipboard assignments include USS Porter (DDG 78) as Chief Engineer homeport shifted from Rota, Spain to Norfolk, Virginia; USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41) as combat information center officer, communications officer, and auxiliaries officer homeported in Norfolk, Virginia; and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) as electrical officer homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
His decoration includes the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), Volunteer Service Metal, and various unit awards.
