Master Chief Hogan is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He commenced active duty in 1996 Delayed Entry Program under the Advanced Electronics Computer Field (AECF) program. Following Boot Camp he reported to Naval Station Great Lakes and attended Advanced Technical Training School followed by Electronics Technician “A” School, graduating in June of 1998. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, class 196 and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course, class 179.
MCPO Hogan’s sea duty tours include USS PETERSON (DD-969), USS HOPPER (DDG-70), USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) and USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD-41). During these tours he served as WCS, LPO and LCPO for Combat Systems Electronics divisions and Command Master Chief. He logged three Arabian Gulf deployments, one BMD deployment to the Sea of Japan, one Mediterranean cruise and 18 ports through the C7F diplomacy mission.
Master Chief’s shore tours include Southern Region Signal Support Regiment-Naples, Italy, Center Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit-Keesler, Recruit Training Command, COMSUBPAC Navy Data Center, Yokosuka, Naval Station Great Lakes, Surface Combat Systems Training Command Hampton Roads and Naval Station Newport, RI. During these tours he served as NATO communication technician for multi-national ships/subs, calibration instructor, Education Training Evaluation Department LCPO and Command Master Chief. He also completed a mid-tour Individual Augmentee to KFOR (Kosovo) while stationed at Keesler AFB.
Master Chief Hogan became USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LDD-20) Command Master Chief in September of 2023.
