Lieutenant Commander Chad Fanning, a native of Midland Park, NJ is a 2009 graduate of Norwich University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He received his commission through Navy Reserve Officer’s Training Corps.
His assignments include Main Propulsion Officer on USS PORTER (DDG 78); Detachment AOIC at Riverine Squadron ONE; Future Operations Officer at NSW Special Reconnaissance Team TWO; Combat Systems Officer and Operations Officer (fleet-up) on USS MILWAUKEE (LCS 5) and Chief Staff Officer at Destroyer Squadron FIVE ZERO.
LCDR Fanning reported as Executive Officer, U.S. Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System Poland in January 2024.
His personal awards include Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), as well as various campaign and unit awards.
