 Hails from Queens, New York, Captain Errol A. Robinson graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. He holds a Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Mary Washington, a Master of Science degree from Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at National Defense University, and a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Military Studies from Marine Corps Command and Staff College. Additionally, he is a 2010 graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School at Joint Forces Staff College and also an alumnus of the National Security Affairs Seminar XXI program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2013). 

Captain Robinson’s initial sea assignment was as a division officer aboard USS Normandy (CG 60), a guided missile cruiser home-ported in Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as Communications Officer and Information Systems Officer. During his tour, Normandy conducted a Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf deployment as part of Operation Southern Watch. His follow-on sea tour was aboard USS Robert G Bradley (FFG 49) home-ported in Mayport, Florida. While aboard, he served as Weapons, Anti-terrorism and Boarding Officer, completing a Counter-Narcotics Deployment, while circumnavigating South America as part of UNITAS 45-04. Upon completion of Surface Warfare Officer Department Head School, CAPT Robinson reported to USS Monterey (CG 61) where he served as Weapons and Combat Systems Officer from June 2006 to May 2009. His latest sea assignment was as Commanding Officer and Executive Officer aboard USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51). During that period, Arleigh Burke, as part of Harry S Truman Carrier Strike Group, conducted several operational assignments to include the first-ever Dynamic Force Employment deployment and Arabian Gulf deployment as Regional Ballistic Missile Defense Commander in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. 

Ashore, he served as an Executive Assistant to Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education) and Chief of Naval Personnel (2019). He also served as Naval Aide and Requirements Officer to the Director, Navy ISR on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Warfare Integration directorate (N 6/7), earning a subspecialty as a Space Cadre. From JFSC and prior to Joint Staff, he worked at OPNAV as an Action Officer in the Ballistic Missile Defense Branch, Surface Warfare Directorate (N86). From November 2010 to November 2013, he served at the Joint Staff as a Joint Doctrine Strategic Planner and the Department of Defense Terminologist. He served as a Defense Legislative Staffer during the 113th United States Congress on the staff of Senator Roger F. Wicker (R-MS), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. In 2015, he served as Ballistic Missile Defense Assessment Officer at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Dahlgren. 

Captain Robinson’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and numerous unit and campaign awards. He is a designated joint qualified officer (JQO).
