 LSCS (SW/AW/IW) Sammy K. Nganga was born in Kenya and enlisted in the Navy on June 2001. Following completion of Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, he reported to NHCORSCH Great Lakes, IL, but his passion in ‘Sales and Marketing’ career could not get on his way! Senior Chief Nganga’s first command was USS Port Royal CG-73, stationed onboard NS Pearl Harbor, HI where he served as an undesignated Seaman/ Supply Clerk, completing two WESTPAC deployments as part of STENNIS Battle/Expeditionary Strike Group. During this tour, he was promoted to Petty Officer Third Class and attained his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) warfare pins. In 2005, he reported to Naval Support Facility Pearl Harbor, HI for his first shore duty tour as Supply Storekeeper. He was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. 

On September 2009, he reported to USS Hopper DDG-70, stationed onboard NS Pearl Harbor, HI completing two WESTPAC deployments in support of Iraq Enduring Freedom and part of BMD surge to the Southern China Sea. He held roles as Depot Level Repairable Manager, Custodian of Postal Effects, acting S1 LPO and was promoted to the rank of PO1 as a Logistics Specialist. 

August 2013, he reported to NMCB 17, Fort Carson, CO. There, he served as Supply LPO for one year and participated in the decommissioning of the command. He was Force Redistributed to NAVSUP FLC San Diego, CA and assigned to Logistics Support Team (code 231) Department Leading Petty Officer in support of Littoral Combat Ships’ logistics. He was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer while onboard. 

On December 2016, LSC Nganga reported onboard USS America (LHA 6) stationed onboard NS San Diego, CA as S8/9 LCPO. He was part of the onboard crew on her 2018 maiden deployment to C7F and C5F with first F35 fighter jets onboard. During this deployment, the ship was tasked to offer assistance to the crew of USS John S. McCain DDG-56 after the fatal collision. He re-qualified on his ESWS and attained his Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist and Information Dominance Warfare pins. 

On December 2019, he reported to his third shore duty at Surface Mine Warfighting Development Center Det. Point Loma as Supply DLCPO. His other roles included Command Equal Opportunity Manager and Urinalysis Coordinator. While at SMWDC, he was promoted to the rank of SCPO. 

On February 2023, LSCS Nganga reported to US Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System Poland. Currently he is the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and Leading Logistics Petty officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bellevue University in Logistics and Transport Management. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
