Master Chief Sevorn A. Bascom enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996 from his hometown of Brooklyn, NY.  Following Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL, he attended Fireman Apprentices Training.
Upon graduation of Apprenticeship training he reported for duty to USS BOONE (FFG-28) in Mayport, FL. where he worked as Electrician Mate Apprentices from 1996-1998.  In May of 1998, he transferred to the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV-67), where he was converted to the Religious Program Specialist (RP) rate and subsequently advanced to Second Class Petty Officer.
After attending Enlisted Recruiting Orientation in April 2002, he reported to Navy Recruiting District New York, where he advanced to First Class Petty Officer and served as a Recruiter in Charge at NRS Harlem and NRS South Street Seaport.
In 2005 he transferred to COMSEVENTH Fleet onboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) were he served as the COMSEVENTH Fleet Force RP.  He advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2008.  In July 2008 he transferred to Center for Service Support in Newport RI, were he served as the RP rating Subject Matter Expert and Naval Chaplaincy School and Center adviser.
In November 2009 he was selected to serve as the COMUSNAVCENT Force RP in Manama, Bahrain. Following COMUSNAVCENT he reported to Naval Station Mayport in 2012 as Leading Chief at Naval Station Chapel.  In May 2015 after completing Field Medical Training in Camp Lejeune, NC he reported to FIFTH Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Bahrain where he served as Navy Senior Enlisted Advisor.
In 2016 he advanced to Senior Chief and was selected to the Command Senior Chief Program.  He graduated the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course and reported to LCSRON1 for pre-commissioning, outfitting and commissioning of the PCU MANCHESTER (LCS-14) and PCU CINCINNATI (LCS-20).
Command Master Chief Bascom went on to serve as CMC at Coastal Riverine Group TWO Det. Bahrain from 2018-2020.  Following CRG2 Two Det. Bahrain he served at the Navy’s largest correctional facility, Naval Consolidated Brig, Miramar, San Diego. 
Command Master Chief reported to Commander Destroyer Squadron FIFTY in September 2023 where he currently serves as DESRON 50/ Task Force 55 Command Master Chief.
Proud graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 165 Gold) and "Excellence in Communication" award winner.  Master Chief Bascom also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Roger Williams University.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Award (five awards) and the Good Conduct Award (six awards), as well as various unit awards, campaign and service decorations. Additionally, he earned and is authorized to wear the Enlisted Expeditionary, Surface Warfare, Aviation Warfare, and Information Specialist designations.
