Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Parrish hails from Kansas City, Missouri and earned his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College in 2008 and commissioned through Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) Newport, Rhode Island in 2010. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree in Leadership, Education & Development from George Washington University in 2015 and completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I through the Naval War College in 2017.
Afloat, LCDR Parrish has deployed to U.S. 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. His shipboard assignments include USS Stout (DDG 55) as ordnance officer; USS Bataan (LHD 5) as auxiliaries officer both homeported in Norfolk, Virginia and USS Ashland (LSD 48) as operations officer, forward deployed in Sasebo, Japan. Upon selecting for early command, he served as executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS Devastator (MCM 6) then assumed command of USS Sentry (MCM 3) October 2023, forward deployed in Manama, Bahrain.
Ashore, his assignments include 3
rd Battalion executive officer and 13
th company officer at the United States Naval Academy (USNA), where he also qualified as an officer in charge of USNA’s 703 Class Yard Patrol training craft.
His decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit awards with great crews.
