Command Master Chief Stacy R. Hammann was born in Jefferson City Missouri. He graduated from Jefferson City High School and then entered the U.S. Navy, attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in September 1997 before attending SONAR Technician Submarines “A” school in Groton, CT.
His first assignment was the USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736) (BLUE). During his first sea tour he completed 9 Strategic Deterrent Patrols. In September 2003 he reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes to serve as a Recruit Division Commander. During his tour as an RDC he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 2006. From there he reported to the USS RHODE ISLAND (SSBN 740) (BLUE) where he completed 5 Strategic Deterrent Patrols. In April 2010 he reported to Commander, Submarine Squadron 20 and served as the Squadron Sonarman.
In March 2013, he was qualified as a Chief of the Boat and reported as the COB of the USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734) (BLUE) where he completed 4 Strategic Deterrent Patrols. Following his tour on the TENNESSEE he reported to TRIDENT TRAINING FACILITY KINGS BAY and served as the Military Training Director. In October of 2019 he reported as the COB onboard the USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729) (BLUE). During his tour onboard GEORGIA he completed 2 forward deployed missions to CENTCOM. He was selected into the Command Senior Chief/Command Master Chief program and in March 2021.
Master Chief Hammann is a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 176, Gold) and the CMC/COB Course (Class 158). He has earned Associate Degree’s in Business Administration and Management from Excelsior University and in Exercise Science from International Sports Science Association.
