Master Chief Terry Vines is a native of Vienna, Maryland. He entered the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program (DEP) in 2001 and attended Recruit Training at Great Lakes, Illinois, in February 2002. After graduating boot camp, he completed signalman “A” school and reported to the USS FORD (FFG 54) at Naval Station Everett, Washington, in July 2002. During his tour, he earned his Enlisted Surface Device and qualified Signalman of the Watch. In 2005, due to a rating merger, he converted to Quartermaster and then to Boatswain Mate. He was initiated as a Chief Petty Officer in 2012. In 2021, he was selected to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program and was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2023.
Master Chief Vines’ operational duty assignments include the USS Ford (FFG-54), USS Ashland (LSD-48), USS Laboon (DDG-58), USS Fort Mchenry (LSD-43), USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB-3) Plank Owner, USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB-4), USS Gonzalez (DDG-66). Ashore, Master Chief Vines served as an UNREP, BM Apprentice and BM Supervisor Instructor at CSCS Detachment East. Additionally, he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and Alcohol Drug Control Officer at Commander, Navy Region Southwest.
He is a graduate of the U. S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 219) and CMC/COB Course (Class 21120). He is enrolled at the University of Arizona Global Campus pursuing a degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. He is certified in the Resilience Building Leader Program, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace, and LEAN Six Sigma.
Master Chief Vines is authorized to wear Enlisted Surface Warfare and Master Training Specialist designators. His awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service (two awards), and various campaigns and service medals.
