Commander Aaron Jefferson, III, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 after with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business in 2015.
Commander Jefferson has served as the Electrical Officer and Gunnery Officer onboard the USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) and the Auxiliaries Officer and Chief Engineer onboard the USS SAMUEL B. ROBERTS (FFG 58). During his Department Head tours, CDR Jefferson served as the Chief Engineer onboard the USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101), USS PRINCETON (CG 59), and USS STERETT (DDG 104). He also served as the Executive Officer onboard USS STERETT (DDG 104).
Ashore, he served at the University of Colorado-Boulder Naval ROTC as a Naval Science Instructor and Freshman Advisor. He also completed a tour as a Campaign Analyst for OPNAV N81 Assessments Division.
CDR Jefferson’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards. He is a recipient of the Surface Navy Association Arleigh Burke Surface Warfare Operational Excellence Award.
