Master Chief Lonsdale, a native of San Diego, CA, joined the Navy on October 2, 1996 and attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He graduated from Electronics Technician “A” School, Great Lakes, in February of 1998 and served as an Electronics Technician from 1998- 2012. He was selected for the Command Master Chief Program in February of 2012.
Lonsdale assumed the duties as Force Master Chief, Naval Surface Force Atlantic on March 24, 2023.
His fleet assignments include USS SPRUANCE (DD 963) as Combat Electronics Leading Petty Officer; Carrier Tactical Support Center Ashore (CV-TSC) Mobile Training Team as Instructor and Maintenance Department Leading Petty Officer; USS SIMPSON (FFG 56) as Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer; Afloat Training Group (ATG) Mayport as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Training Liaison Officer.
His previous Command Master Chief tours include; USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS (FFG 58), USS CARNEY (DDG 64), Naval Surface Squadron FOURTEEN, Joint Base Charleston, Navy Region Southeast and Joint Task Force-Guantanamo.
During his at-sea fleet assignments, Lonsdale conducted six extended overseas deployments to 4th, 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility in support of national tasking, NATO Operations and various campaigns.
Lonsdale is a graduate and Academic Award Winner of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 166, Command Master Chief Course, Navy Senior Leader Seminar, Keystone and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Excelsior College, Albany, NY. Additionally, he has earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and Afloat Training Specialist designations.
His decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
