Cmdr. Mike McAraw

Commander Mike McAraw enlisted in the Navy in 1997 and served as a Fire Controlman in USS PORTER (DDG 78). In 2003, he was selected for the Seaman to Admiral-21 program and attended Old Dominion University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Afloat, Commander McAraw completed both division officer tours aboard USS HUE CITY (CG 66) as Combat Information Center Officer and Training Officer. His Department Head tours were aboard USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) as Operations Officer, and USS MONTEREY (CG 61) as Combat Systems Officer, where he was selected as the 2016 COMNAVSURFLANT Surface Warfare Officer of the year. He commanded USS THUNDERBOLT (PC 12), forward deployed to U.S. FIFTH Fleet. He then served as Operations Officer (N3) and Chief Staff Officer (CSO) in COMDESRON 50/CTF 55. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Commodore of COMDESRON 50/CTF 55.
Ashore, Commander McAraw served as the Chief of Integrated Air and Missile Defense Plans in the 613th Air and Space Operations Center for Pacific Air Forces in Pearl Harbor, HI.
His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various other unit and expeditionary awards.
