Master Chief Haas is a native of Hudson, NC. He entered the Delayed Entry Program in April of 1991 and arrived at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL on 24 September 1991. Upon completion of Basic Training, Master Chief Haas remained in Great Lakes to attend Fire Controlman “A” School at the Naval Training Center.

Following “A” School, Master Chief Haas received orders to USS GUADALCANAL (LPH 7) where he served for 15 months until her decommissioning. He then selected orders to MK 92 “C” School in Dam Neck, VA with follow-on orders to the USS NICHOLAS (FFG 47) in Norfolk, VA.

While on NICHOLAS, Master Chief Haas was advanced to Second Class and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare designation. In 1999, then FC2 Haas, reported to the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Bessemer, AL to serve as an instructor. While there, he was advanced to first class and then in 2001, he was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer.

In 2002, then FCC Haas, reported to USS BATAAN (LHD 5) where he served his first tour in the Mess as a CF Division Chief. While attached to BATAAN, Master Chief Haas earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare designation. In 2006, he accepted orders to USS DE WERT (FFG 45) in Mayport, FL. While on DE WERT he served as the Combat Systems Department LCPO, was selected for advancement to Senior Chief and earned his Anti-Terrorism Training Supervisor qualification.

 Master Chief Haas detached DE WERT in 2010 and reported to DESRON 14 as the Weapons Officer. In 2012 he was selected for advancement to Master Chief Fire Controlman and received orders as the STO/Maintenance Branch LCPO onboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75). In 2014, Master Chief Haas was selected for the CMC program and accepted orders to TPU/PCF JAX in Jacksonville, FL. Upon a successful tour at TPU, Master Chief reported to USS HUE CITY (CG 66) in 2018 where he served until she entered the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) in 2019. He was then selected for orders to the Fleet Logistics Center in Norfolk, VA in October of 2019. In July 2021 Master Chief Haas reported to USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) where he serves currently.

Master Chief Haas is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 163(Blue) and the CMC/COB course in Newport, RI. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
