Commander Eric Blomberg, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, enlisted in the Navy in 1996 as a Nuclear Machinist Mate serving aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) and USS EMORY S. LAND (AS 39). He was commissioned through the Seaman to Admiral (STA-21) Program in 2005.
Commander Blomberg graduated summa cum laude from Old Dominion University, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He also holds a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Commander Blomberg’s Division Officer and Department Head tours afloat were aboard USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98), USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), USS SAMPSON (DDG 102), and USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75). He commanded USS SCOUT (MCM 8), a Mine Countermeasures Ship stationed in San Diego California, and previously served as her Executive Officer under the Fleet up model. Under his command, USS SCOUT completed multiple patrols in the 3rd and 4th Fleet Area of Operations. He previously served as Executive Officer on USS LABOON (DDG 58), a Guided Missile Destroyer stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, and is currently the Commanding Officer.
Ashore, Commander Blomberg served as the Material Officer for Moored Training Ship DANIEL WEBSTER (MTS-626) at Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston, South Carolina.
Commander Blomberg has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
