Commander Bryan Kemmitz is a native of Wisconsin, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1997. Following completion of his initial sea tour onboard the USS Chosin (CG 65) as an Information Systems Technician, he was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating and earning his commission in 2005.

CDR Kemmitz is a Surface Warfare Officer whose sea assignments include USS John L. Hall (FFG 32) as the Combat Information Center Officer, USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the Auxiliaries Division Officer, and USS Truxtun (DDG 103) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. During his combined sea tours, he deployed four times and participated in a wide variety of missions ranging from counter-narcotic interdiction operations to carrier strike group operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Ashore, CDR Kemmitz served as the Executive Officer of Navy Operational Support Center, Bessemer, Director of Operations and Training at Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Reserve Component Command, Great Lakes, and as the Commanding Officer of Navy Operational Support Center, Peoria. He also attended the Naval Postgraduate School, earning a M.S. in Information Technology Management, and his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME Phase I) certification through the U.S. Naval War College.

He is grateful to have served with outstanding Sailors, colleagues and friends whose exceptional teamwork have enabled him wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various campaign, service, and unit awards.
