 Command Master Chief Larae W. Baker, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1994.  Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois she reported to Naval Technical Training Center, Meridian, Mississippi where she completed Storekeeper “A” school.
 
Upon Storekeeper “A” school graduation, Command Master Chief Baker reported for duty onboard the USS Yellowstone (AD 41), Norfolk, VA.  Her fleet assignments include USNS Niagara Falls (TAFS 3), Agana Guam; USS LaSalle (AGF 3), Gaeta, Italy; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron THREE, NAS Jacksonville, FL; and USS Chafee (DDG 90), Pearl Harbor, HI.  In addition, Command Master Chief Baker completed her shore assignments at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, SC, Afloat Training Group Mayport, FL, and NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville, FL.
 
Command Master Chief Baker was selected for the Command Senior Chief program and then selected for Command Master Chief in 2016.  In August 2016, she reported for duty as the Command Master Chief onboard USS Gravely (DDG 107), Norfolk, VA from August 2016 –September 2019.  While assigned she was deployed to the SIXTH Fleet as the Standing NATO Maritime Group ONE (SNMG-1) Flag Ship in support of NATO partnerships. She then served as the Command Master Chief onboard USS Arlington (LPD 24), Norfolk, VA from October 2019 - November 2021.  While assigned, ARLINGTON conducted multi-dimensional Expeditionary Warfare and Surface Warfare missions while supporting the Navy and Marine Corps amphibious operations in the global maritime environment to include Command Underway 2021, Large Scale Exercise 2021 and Joint Task Force Haiti Disaster Relief Assistance. She is now serving as the Command Master Chief at Surface Division TWO ONE, Mayport, FL. 
 
Command Master Chief Baker holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Work Force Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; she is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 190, CMC/COB Course Class 162 and Command Senior Enlisted Leader Executive Leadership Symposium 2021.  Additionally, Master Chief Baker has earned her Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Afloat Training Specialist, and Master Training Specialist designations. 
 
Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
