Cmdr. Michael J. Gossett

Commander Gossett is a native of Ithaca, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rochester, a Master of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Military Studies from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He was commissioned through NROTC in May of 2007 and qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer in December of 2008.
Commander Gossett’s operational assignments include service as the Ordnance, Gunnery, and Force Protection Officer aboard USS McFaul (DDG 74), the Assistant Operations Officer aboard USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), and as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS Princeton (CG 59).
Ashore, Commander Gossett served as a Seamanship and Navigation Instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy, an action officer for the Director, Integrated Warfare (OPNAV N9I), and a student at the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
Commander Gossett assumed his current duties as Executive Officer for LCS Crew 106 (Sioux City Gold) in March 2022.
Commander Gossett has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, but is most proud to have served with teams awarded the Spokane Trophy, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Battle “E.”
