 Command Master Chief Eric W. Hill was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and raised in Havelock, North Carolina. He graduated from Havelock High School and then entered the U.S. Navy, attending basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in November 1994 before attending Yeoman “A” school in Meridian, Mississippi.

His first assignment was Secretary of the Navy’s Physical Evaluation Board, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. He then reported as a student to Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST), Newport, RI. From there he reported to Naval Criminal Investigation Services Headquarters, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. He reported for his first sea tour with the “Blue Tails” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE TWO ONE (VAW-121), Norfolk, VA in September 2000 deploying onboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). He next reported to the “Warlocks” of Scientific Development Squadron ONE (VXS-1) in NAS Patuxent River, Maryland in October 2002.

In December 2006, he reported to USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Virginia and advanced to Chief Petty Officer. In January 2010, he reported to his next assignment at Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group, Suitland, Maryland. During this tour he was also tasked to serve as an Individual Augmentee with the DOD Criminal Investigation Task Force. In March 2014 he joined the “Sunliners” of Strike Fighter Squadron EIGHT ONE (VFA-81) at Naval Air Station Oceana, where they completed a 9.5 month deployment onboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) and was selected to Senior Chief.

He was then selected into the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program and in September 2016 reported as Naval Supply Systems Command, Fleet Logistics Center Bahrain’s first Command Senior Chief. Then in March 2018 he reported as Command Master Chief, Navy Recruiting District Richmond, VA. In June 2020, he returned to sea as Command Master Chief onboard USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), forward deployed to Rota, Spain and ultimately executed a successful homeport shift of the ship, crew and families to Mayport, FL.

Command Master Chief Hill reported in March 2022 to his current assignment at Commander, Destroyer Squadron 50/Commander, Task Force 55 in Manama, Bahrain.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 178, Purple) and the CMC/COB Course (Class 162). He has earned an Associate Degree’s in Criminal Justice from Grantham University, as well as an Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6) and various campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.
