Cmdr. Antonia K. Shey

Antonia Shey is a native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She graduated and was commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She earned a Master of Arts from the Naval War College in 2013 and will graduate with a juris doctorate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Spring of 2022.
Her first sea assignment was as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer onboard USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan from July 2005 to July 2007. Her second division officer tour was in USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) from September 2008 to October 2010. She completed her first department head tour as Operations Officer onboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86), homeported in Everett, Washington. From April 2015 to June 2017, CDR Shey served aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) as the Reactor Training Assistant. From December 2019 to November 2020, CDR Shey served as the Executive Officer of USS TRUXTUN (DDG 103), deploying to Fifth and Sixth Fleets. CDR Shey took command of USS McFAUL (DDG 74) in March 2022.
Ashore, she served as Aide de Camp to the Commandant, Joint Forces Staff College; as N9 staff at Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic; and as the Director’s Speechwriter and the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director at Naval Reactors. Her most recent shore assignment was as Director of Assessments (N44) at Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic.
CDR Shey’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and campaign medals.
