Lt. Cmdr. Alex Turner

LCDR Alex Turner is a native of Peoria, Illinois and earned his commission through the United States Naval Academy in 2011. He also holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from Naval Postgraduate School.
Afloat, LCDR Turner first served as the Combat Information Center Officer aboard USS Robert Smalls (CG 62), then USS New Orleans (LPD 18) as Force Protection Officer. During his initial tours he deployed to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet (FLT) Areas of Responsibility (AOR) on two separate occasions, while earning his Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) and Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualifications. After selecting for Department Head, he served on USS Chafee (DDG 90) as the Operations Officer and later fleet up to Combat Systems Officer, where he led the ship through various operations, missile exercises and C7F deployment and was named 2022 Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific, Surface Warfare Officer of the Year. LCDR Turner most recently served as the Executive Officer onboard USS Devastator (MCM 6) before fleeting up to Commanding Officer in August 2024.
Ashore, LCDR Turner returned to the Naval Academy for two years to work in the Operations Department to support the Brigade of Midshipmen and attended Naval Postgraduate School before returning to sea.
