 Cmdr. Bill Miante, a naval aviator, is a native of Annapolis, Maryland and a 2004 graduate of the U.S Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Economics. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas with a focus in Operations Management.

Miante’s first operational assignment was with the “EasyRiders” of HSL-37 located in Kaneohe Bay, HI flying the mighty SH-60B. Miante completed subsequent tours with the “Airwolves” of HSM-40 in Mayport, Florida as an MH-60R Instructor Pilot, a second tour with HSL-37 to aid in a platform transition to the MH-60R, and the “Magicians” of HSM-35 for his aviation department head tour. Most recently, he reported from the Joint Staff, J-8 Studies, Analysis and Gaming Division at the Pentagon.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit commendations and service campaign awards.
 
Cmdr. Miante began serving as the 64th Commanding Officer of the Skylords on February 10th, 2022.
