Command Senior Chief, USS Wichita (LCS 13)

Command Senior Chief Kemp is currently the Senior Enlisted Leader of USS Wichita LCS 13. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Upon completion of High School at Nova High in 2002. He was shipped to boot camp in August the same year. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, he reported to his first command as an undesignated seaman.
His sea tours include; USS CARR FFG 56 (2002-2004) conducting his first deployment as an undesignated Seaman. Striking into the Quartermaster Rate he severed aboard USS LEYTE GULF CG 55 (2004-2007) as a third class and completed his second deployment. As a QM1, he served aboard USS THE SULLIVANS DDG 68 (2011-2012) completing INSURV inspection and deploying to the 5th fleet for a third time. He served aboard the USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS FFG 58 (2012-2015), completing two deployments and one Joint Warrior exercise. He commissioned USS BILLINGS LCS 15 Blue Crew (2018-2023) as the Assistant Navigator while attached he conducted two sail around through the Great Lakes out of the build yard and completed his sixth and seventh deployments.
His shore tours include a tour at Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville, FL (2007-2011), where he shared the opportunities within the Navy—as a Naval Science instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland (2015-2018), teaching future Officers the fundamentals of Navigation while earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS). Senior Chief is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 252 (Green), and CMC/COB class 231. He holds an Associate from Excelsior University and a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
He was selected to serve as the Command Senior Chief onboard the USS Wichita LCS 13. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), Navy Good Conduct Medal (5), Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (8), United States Coast Guard Operations Medal (1), The NATO Article 5 Active Endeavour Medal (1), and numerous other unit campaign awards.
