Captain William McCormack Harkin

Captain Mac Harkin is a native of native of Troy, New York and a 1999 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in National Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Afloat, he commanded USS Bulkeley (DDG-84), PC Crew Bravo onboard USS Tempest (PC-2), USS Sirocco (PC-6), and USS Hurricane (PC-3). Additional assignments at sea include Main Propulsion Officer (Aft Plant) and Combat Information Center Officer onboard USS Dubuque (LPD 8), Chief Engineer onboard USS Rueben James (FFG 57), Executive Officer for MCM Crew Leader onboard USS Warrior (MCM 10), Flag Secretary/N1 on the staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group Ten embarked onboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and most recently Deputy Commander, Destroyer Squadron Two.
Ashore, he commanded Afloat Training Group Norfolk, served as Executive Officer and Global Force Management Emergent Requirements Lead at U.S. European Command (J3), and he was the Weapons Branch Head at OPNAV N96.
Captain Harkin’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Award, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
