CMDCM Dave Adkins was born in Charleston, West Virginia and enlisted in the Navy in March of 2001 as an Airman Recruit.
    
Upon completion of Recruit Training, CMDCM Adkins attended Aviation Storekeeper “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi, and then transferred to Strike Fighter Squadron EIGHT-ONE, NAS Oceana, Virginia, as the OPTAR Manager and Leading Petty Officer (2001-2005).  There he completed two deployments onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON and USS JOHN F. KENNEDY. There he was meritoriously advanced to AK3, advanced to AK2 and earned his Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (AW) and his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (SW).
 
In 2005 CMDCM Adkins transferred to Aviation Support Division, NAS Oceana, VA as the Mid-check Leading Petty Officer, Awaiting Parts Expeditor, and Document Control Unit Supervisor (2005-2007).  There he was advanced to SK1.
 
In 2007, CMDCM Adkins transferred to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion One (NCHB1), Williamsburg, VA as the Supply Leading Petty Officer, Expeditionary Support Unit Leading Petty Officer, and Hatch Captain (2007-2011).  There he deployed to Rota, Spain and was selected as a requirement for forces to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit One (EODMU1) and served as Supply Leading Petty Officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at FOB Speicher, Tikrit, Iraq from October 2008 to May of 2009.  He earned his Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist (EXW) at both NCHB1 and EODMU1.
 
In 2011, he transferred to the Center for Services Support Learning Site Fort Lee, Petersburgh, VA as the Hazardous Materials Lead Instructor and Senior Enlisted Advisor for The Air Force Air Transportation Specialist Tech School. (2011-2014). There he was selected TO Chief Petty Officer and earned his Master Training Specialist (MTS). CMDCM Adkins served at the Supply Officer for USS SIOUX CITY Blue, Mayport, Florida from October 2014 to July 2019 where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served as the Supply Department DLCPO for PCU John F. Kennedy from August 2019-October 2020. He served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of USS SIOUX CITY Blue where is was selected to Command Master Chief. He most recently served as the CMC of USS JAMES E WILLIAMS (DDG95).  
 
His awards include: Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal (two awards), Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and various service, unit and campaign awards.
 
He currently has an Associate’s Degree in General Education from American Military University, Associates Degree in Instructor of Military Science and Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Theology from Liberty University and a Master of Arts Degree in Executive Leadership from Liberty University.
