Master Chief Sigurdsson enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1997 from Greendale, Wisconsin. Upon graduation from recruit training and Radioman “A” School, she reported to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Iceland followed by Naval Air Station Keflavik. Following her tours in Iceland, she attended Naval Justice School where she cross-rated to Legalman in 2002.
Master Chief Sigurdsson’s assignments include: Trial Service Office West Branch Offices Whidbey Island and Everett; Region Legal Service Office Europe and Southwest Asia Detachment Rota, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), and
Naval Justice School Newport. She deployed as an Individual Augmentee with Task Force 134, Detainee Operations, in Baghdad, Iraq. As a Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, her assignments include Region Legal Service Office Naval District Washington, Military Entrance Processing Station Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO THREE "Salty Dogs" in Patuxent River, Maryland. She reported to her current assignment as Command Master Chief of USS COLE (DDG 67), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, in September 2021.
Master Chief Sigurdsson holds an associate’s degree in science in Paralegal Studies from Roger Williams University. She was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in 2018. She is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 210) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course in Newport, Rhode Island.
Master Chief Sigurdsson is designated as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. She has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and is proud to have served as part of teams that earned Battle “E”s, Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
