Command Master Chief Sanders is a native of LaGrange, Georgia and enlisted in November 1997. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois and attended Electrician’s Mate “A” School at Naval Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois.
His previous duty assignments include: USS MOUNT WHITHNEY (LCC 20) in Norfolk, Virginia; Submarine Squadron Support Unit Norfolk, Virginia; USS HAWES (FFG 53) in Norfolk, Virginia; Navy Recruiting District Montgomery, Alabama assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Anniston, Alabama; USS PORT ROYAL (CG 73) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; USS JASON DUNHAM (DDG 109) in Norfolk, Virginia; Naval Safety Center Norfolk, Virginia; and USS WASP (LHD 1) in Sasebo, Japan.
Master Chief Sanders’ deployments and command exercises include: Deployments to the FIFTH, SIXTH and SEVENTH Fleet AORs, Exercise Strong Resolve, Joint US/UK Sinkex, Operation Active Endeavor, Rim of Pacific Exercise, Operation New Dawn, Operation Atlantic Sentry and Sharp Sentry, Exercises Sea Breeze and Reliant Mermaid, Exercise Olympic Titan, Operation Emerald Rain, Joint Warrior 14-2, FDNF-J F-35B Patrols and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Prior to reporting to the USS BULKELEY, he served as the Command Master Chief at Electronic Attack Squadron ONE THREE ZERO in Whidbey Island, Washington. His academic achievements include an Associates of Science in Electrical / Mechanical Technology from Coastline Community College. Master Chief Sanders is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and CMC / COB course.
His personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards) and several other unit and campaign awards.
