 CDR William G. Kuhn is a ntive of Stuart, FL. After graduating High School he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
 
He was commissioned in the United States Navy in March of 2008 through Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and received his first orders to serve as the Gunnery Officer onboard USS TAYLOR (FFG 50) out of Mayport, FL. During his first Division Officer tour, he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer, held collateral duties as a VBSS Boarding Officer and was a member of the ATFP and VBSS Training Teams. He completed two deployments to the Sixth Fleet Area of Responsibility (AoR) while USS TAYLOR was deployed with the Standing NATO Maritime Group TWO and while deployed independently conducting Theater Security Cooperation Operations. In 2010, he received orders to his second Division Officer Tour as the Damage Control Assistant onboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86) out of Everett, WA where he deployed to the Seventh Fleet AoR and was also a member of the DC Training Team.
 
In 2012, LCDR Kuhn was stationed at the Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR) in Norfolk, VA as the Operational Test Director for three Joint Chemical and Biological Warfare Agent Decontamination acquisition programs of record, the Joint Service Equipment Wipe (JSEW), Joint General Purpose Decontaminant (JGPD), and the Contamination/Indicator Decontamination Assurance System (CIDAS). He helped design operationally relevant tests that included Navy TTPs, environmental constraints and addressed Navy specific requirements. While stationed at OPTEVFOR, he completed his graduate degree and earned a Master of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University and completed Joint Professional Military Education through the Navy War College.
 
In 2016 after attending Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, RI, he was assigned to the USS MONTEREY (CG 61) out of Norfolk, VA as the Weapons Officer. He completed two deployments to the Fifth Fleet AoR while USS MONTEREY was deployed with Carrier Strike Group TEN and again when surge deployed independently in 2017, prior to serving a consecutive Department Head tour and assuming responsibilities as the Combat Systems Officer.
 
LCDR Kuhn has been stationed at Maritime Expeditionary Security Group TWO Detachment Bahrain since March of 2020 as the Assistant Officer in Charge where he is responsible for the planning, operations and administration of the 17 Embarked Security and Intelligence Teams of Task Group 56.11, supporting Task Force 53 and Military Sealift Command assets in the Fifth Fleet AoR. Throughout his naval career he has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
