 Command Senior Chief Aaron V. Wimberly, a native of Toledo, OH, entered Recruit Training on July 13, 1999 and attended Aerographer’s Mate A-1 school at Naval Technical Training Unit Keesler AFB, MS. His first permanent duty station was the Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Detachment Point Mugu, CA, where he supported weapon test operations. In August 2003, he reported to the Naval Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography Facility Jacksonville, Florida, serving as Aviation Forecaster and Southeast Regional Forecaster.

In December 2006 Senior Chief Wimberly reported to USS ESSEX (LHD-2) home ported in Sasebo, Japan. While onboard he earned Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist qualifications. In January 2010, Senior Chief Wimberly reported for instructor duty at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Keesler, where he earned his Master Training Specialist qualification and was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2012.

Following his instructor tour, Senior Chief Wimberly reported to Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN (ESG-7) in Okinawa, Japan. During this tour he served as METOC Manager for the SEVENTH Fleet Amphibious Force, completing several deployments with BONHOMME RICHARD Amphibious Readiness Group and earned his Information Warfare Specialist qualification. In February 2015, Senior Chief Wimberly reported to Naval Oceanography Antisubmarine Warfare Center (NOAC) Yokosuka, where he served as Operations Department LCPO and earned his BS Degree in December 2016. In June 2017 he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and assumed duties as NOAC’s Command Senior Chief. Following this tour he served at Fleet Weather Center, San Diego, deploying onboard USS SOMERSET and USS JOHN C. STENNIS and was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in 2020.

Senior Chief Wimberly’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards); Navy Good Conduct Medal (7 awards); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4 awards); and Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (8 awards).
