Captain Nathan S. Wemett is assigned as the Commodore for Commander, Naval Surface Squadron FIVE. He is a native of San Diego CA, enlisted as a Hospital Corpsman in 1993, and was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1999. He attended the University of Washington where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2001. He attained a Master’s degree at the Naval War College in 2015.
His at sea tours include USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55), where he served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Training Officer, USS BOXER (LHD 4) where he served as training Officer, and USS SAMPSON (DDG 102) as Operations Officer. He was then selected for Early Command and assigned to MCM Crew Persistent. Upon completion of Executive Officer and Commanding Officer tours with Crew Persistent, he served as the Commanding Officer of IA MCM Crew Olympian. He was selected for Commander Command and served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS KIDD (DDG 100).
Captain Wemett’s tours ashore include an enlisted staff tour at Commander, Pacific Fleet, a Personal Exchange Program tour aboard the German Fast Patrol Boat HYAENE (P6130), and as the Operations Officer for Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest.
Captain Wemett’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
