A native of Florida and second-generation U.S. Navy Sailor, CAPT Blair Guy enlisted in the US Navy in 1991 as a nuclear Machinist Mate. Selected for the nuclear enlisted commissioning program, he earned a B.S. degree in Physics from Auburn University and was commissioned upon completion of Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.
At sea, CAPT Guy served as the Combat Information Center Division Officer and Gunnery Officer in USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53) forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan; Reactor Laboratories Division Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73); Operations Officer in USS RAMAGE (DDG 61); commissioning Reactor Electrical Assistant in USS GEORGE H W BUSH (CVN 77); Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS PORTER (DDG 78) forward deployed to Rota, Spain; Reactor Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73); and is currently serving as Deputy Commodore, Destroyer Squadron Twenty Eight. In addition to deploying to the FIFTH Fleet area of responsibility, he has served in sea billets forward deployed to SIXTH Fleet and SEVENTH Fleet.
Ashore, CAPT Guy served as Assistant Strategy Officer for Director, Strategy and Policy (N5), US Naval Forces Europe; Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board Inspector for Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; Joint Experimentation Branch Chief for Director Policy, Strategy, Partnering and Capabilities (J5/8), US European Command; and Special Assistant for CVN Operations for Director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NAVSEA 08).
CAPT Guy’s additional education includes a M.S. degree in Management Information Systems from Bowie State University and Joint Professional Military education through the USAF Staff College and Joint Forces Staff College.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and various unit and service awards.
