Master Chief Petty Officer Ashton is a native of St. Augustine Florida. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1993, received basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, and attended Damage Controlman A-School in Treasure Island CA.
Master Chief Ashton’s’ previous commands include, USS Harlan County LST-1196, USS Carney DDG-64, USS Donald Cook DDG-75, Navy Recruiting District Nashville, USS John C. Stennis CVN-74, Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site Pearl Harbor, USS Ponce LPD-15 where he served a Command Senior Enlisted Leader, USS Mesa Verde LPD-19 where he was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer, Afloat Training Group Mayport, and Officer Training Command Newport where he served a Command Master Chief.
He recently served as Command Master Chief onboard USS Philippine Sea CG-58.
Master Chief Ashton is a graduate of the senior enlisted academy class 212 (Blue) and CMC/COB course. He is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six gold stars), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five gold stars), as well as other unit and campaign awards.
