Lieutenant Commander Ivey is a native Texan and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a BA in History earning his commission through the NROTC program. He holds a master’s degree from Webster University and is a 2017 graduate of the United States Army’s Command and General Staff Officer Course in residence at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  

At sea, he served as the Main Propulsion Division Officer, Gunnery Officer, and Visit, Board, Search and  Seizure and Force Protection Officer onboard USS Pinckney (DDG 91) completing two Western Pacific  Deployments, and as the Damage Control Assistant in MCM Crew Dominant onboard USS Champion (MCM  4) and USS Devastator (MCM 6) and twice forward deployed to Bahrain on USS Scout (MCM 8). Following  Department Head School, he was assigned as the Weapons Officer on USS Vicksburg (CG 69). In 2014 he was  assigned as the Training Officer on USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) forward deployed to Japan. Following  shore duty, he served as the Combat Systems Officer in USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB 3) Blue Crew, deploying  twice to the Fifth Fleet Area of Operations.  

Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Ivey was assigned as the Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) Officer and  Training Officer at Assault Craft Unit One, supporting multiple overseas and CONUS MPF exercises.  

Lieutenant Commander Ivey’s personal awards include five Navy Commendation Medals and three Navy  Achievement Medals as well several campaign and unit awards.
