LCDR Buddecke graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology in April 2008. He was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School into the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer in August 2008.

Shortly after commissioning, ENS Buddecke reported to his first sea tour onboard USS WASP (LHD 1) homeported in Norfolk, VA. He reported in October 2009 and assumed duties as the Auxiliary Division Officer. He also served as the Assistant Training Officer. While onboard WASP, she deployed to the 4th Fleet Area of Operations (AOR), participating in drug interdiction missions.

In March of 2011, LTJG Buddecke reported onboard USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77) as the Deck Division Officer. He immediately began workups for the upcoming and inaugural deployment. While onboard GEORGE H.W. BUSH he deployed to the Fifth and Sixth Fleet AORs. During the deployment he participated in Exercise Saxon Warrior near the Western Approaches and in Operation Enduring Freedom in the Persian Gulf.

In September of 2012 LT Buddecke departed GEORGE H.W. BUSH and reported to the United States Naval Academy. LT Buddecke served as the Assistant Operations Officer and was in charge of coordinating the 2012-

2014 Army/Navy Football Game and the Graduations for the Classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015.

In December of 2016 LT Buddecke reported onboard USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) as the Combat Systems officer. He played an integral part as the Tactical Action Officer during the Basic Phase, PMIT, COMPTUEX, humanitarian assistance to Key West residents affected by hurricane Irma and during IWO JIMA's deployment into Fifth and Sixth Fleet AORs.

After serving on the USS IWO JIMA LT Buddecke began the LCS Pipeline and after completion was assigned to PCU MINNEAPOLIS ST PAUL where he severed as the Operations Officer and built many programs from the ground up.

LCDR Buddecke's awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and service awards.
