Captain Anderson is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a Graduate of Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996 and commissioned as an Ensign in October 1999 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola Florida.
At sea Captain Anderson has served as CG Division Officer in USS TARAWA (LHA 1), Training Officer in USS ODGEN (LPD 5), Operations Officer in USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60), and First Lieutenant in USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6). He has served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer for LCS Crew 104 and 108 onboard USS MILWAUKEE (LCS 5) and subsequently commanded the LCS Training Ship, USS MANCHESTER (LCS 14).
Ashore, Captain Anderson served as a Joint Training Officer at US Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska, attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and served as Current Operations Deputy/ Fleet Scheduler at U.S. THIRD FLEET and Current Operations at Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific. He also served as the Mine Warfare Battlestaff Director at Naval Surface and Mine Warfare Development Center Detachment Point Loma.
Captain Anderson reported to Naval Surface Squadron FOURTEEN in August 2022 where he currently serves as Deputy Commodore.
Captain Anderson’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards) as well as various unit citations and campaign awards.
