CMDCM Jans Valdespou
Command Master Chief, USS Porter (DDG 78)

CMDCM Jans Valdespou is a native of Havana, Cuba and enlisted in the Navy from Florida. He attended recruit training and Electrician’s Mate (EM) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois, and graduated EM “A” School in 1996. He is a graduate of Central Texas College where he received an Associate’s Degree of General Studies in 2007.
His assignments at sea include: Electrical Division aboard USS Elrod (FFG 55), Repair Department aboard USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) stationed in La Maddalena, Italy, engineering department leading chief petty officer (LCPO) aboard USS Anzio (CG 68), and ship’s Maintenance Material Manager (3MC) and engineering department LCPO aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81). During these operational tours Master Chief Valdespou completed deployments to the 5th and 6th fleet area of responsibility. His most recent tour was as the senior enlisted leader for the USS Constitution.
His shore assignments include: Naval Reserve Center Clearwater, FL as Reserve Pay and Training Petty Officer, Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, IL as a Recruit Division Commander, and Afloat Training Group (ATG) Norfolk, VA as Gas Turbine Division LCPO and as a member of various engineering training and assessment teams.
Master Chief Valdespou’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
