Command Master Chief (CMDCM) Brandon Ellison enlisted in the U.S. Navy, Aug. 25, 1998. Upon completion of basic training, he reported to Hospital Corpsman Apprenticeship School, Great Lakes, Illinois. After graduation he reported to Field Medical Service School, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and attended Field Medical Service Technician “C” School.

In May 1999, he reported to his first duty station, 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune. There he held multiple positions, attended numerous courses, and deployed to both Greece and Norway in support of unit exercises.  

In 2002, he transferred to the Naval Operational Medicine Institute (NOMI), Pensacola, Florida, where he was assigned to the N3 and participated in the development, review and evaluation of the HSV 2 Swift, Army’s Flight Medic programs, and the Navy Medical Lessons Learned System in addition to supporting Joint Task Force Katrina hurricane relief efforts.

In October 2005, Ellison reported to 2d Marine Air Wing (MAW), Cherry Point, North Carolina, where he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 and Marine Air Group 14; after he was reassigned to the 2d MAW Headquarter Staff as the Medical Plans Chief until his selection for chief petty officer in 2008. After selection, he was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the MAW Combined Medical Clinic.  

In 2009, Ellison volunteered for an individual augmentation (IA) billet and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) as part of a Security Force Advisor Team with NATO Training Mission Afghanistan and the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division to Regional Command North, Afghanistan. Upon completion of his IA tour, Ellison transferred to 2d Marine Logistics Group and was assigned to the Headquarters as the Chief, G-1, Navy Personnel Officer & Manpower Chief. While assigned, he deployed to Regional Command South West in support of OEF with Combat Logistics Regiment 2.

Ellison was selected for special duty as a Command Climate Specialist, and was assigned to the Pre-commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). Aboard the Ford, he was promoted to senior chief and assigned as the Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. Ellison was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in February 2019 and assigned as the CMDCS of USS ST. Louis’ (LCS 19) Blue Crew, July 2019. Ellison was promoted to Command Master Chief in 2020.

Ellison is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 207 Red and Command Master Chief/COB Course 202. He has earned an Associate of Science from Thomas Edison State University. 

Ellison’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal (4 gold stars), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal gold star, and numerous individual campaign and unit awards..
