A native of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Senior Chief Willie enlisted in the United States Navy in August 2002. After completing Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Seamanship Apprentice School Great Lakes, Illinois. His first duty station was USS George Phillip (FFG-12) as an undesignated seaman in Deck division.
Senior Chief Willie’s other assignments include Beach Master Unit ONE (BMU-1) Coronado, CA, Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville (NRD Jax), Jacksonville, FL, Coastal Riverine Squadron FOUR (CRS-4), Little Creek, VA, Littoral Combat Squadron TWO (LSCRON 2), Jacksonville, FL, and USS St. Louis (LCS-19) Gold Crew. He is currently assigned as the Command Senior Chief of USS Detroit (LCS-7) Blue Crew.
While assigned to BMU-1, Senior Chief Willie completed a six month Western Pacific (WESTPAC) deployment onboard USS DULUTH (LPD-6) stationed in San Diego, CA. While deployed, he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) designation. BMU-1 was awarded a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and Humanitarian Assistance awards.
His academic accomplishments include a Master’s in Business Administration in Human Resources from Saint Leo University. He is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 212 (Purple Team) and CMC/COB Class 210.
Military decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), and other various unit and campaign awards.
CMDCS Willie reported as Senior Enlisted Leader of DETROIT Blue embarked on USS DETROIT (LCS 7) in July 2020.
