Master Chief Petty Officer Marks is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Navy in November of 1993. His initial training consisted of Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL followed by Postal Clerk Apprenticeship Training, in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. His shore assignments include tours at Naval Air Station Atsugi, JA, Commander, Fleet Activity, Yokosuka, JA, Postal Clerk Rating Manager at Center for Service Support, Athens, GA and Newport, RI where he was instrumental in the development of the Logistics Specialist accessions training in lieu of Postal Clerk/Storekeeper merger and Assault Craft Unit 4, Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek, Virginia.
At sea, he served aboard USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), USS Cowpens (CG 63), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), and USS Gonzalez (DDG 66). He is currently serving as Command Master Chief aboard USS Vella Gulf (CG 72), Norfolk, Va.
Master Chief Marks has completed his Associate Degree in business administration with Coastline Community College and attended the Senior Enlisted Academy in 2007, Class 130 (Grey). His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Four awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) as well as various unit and campaign awards.
