Command Master Chief Michael Chadwell, a native of Hawthorne, Nevada, reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, January 2001 and began his career as an Intelligence Specialist.
His assignments include duty with Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), and selection to Naval Special Warfare Development Group where he supported Joint Task Forces in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. He served as the Intelligence Directorate Leading Chief Petty Officer at U.S. Naval Forces Europe, U.S. Naval Forces Africa, and U.S. 6th Fleet. Additionally, he served as the Intelligence Department Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). He was selected to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in 2015 and recently served as Command Master Chief aboard USS Detroit (LCS 7). He is currently serving as the Command Master Chief aboard USS Vicksburg (CG 69).
Chadwell is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 170/Blue) and the CMC/COB course (Class 152). He has earned his Surface Warfare, Information Warfare, Aviation Warfare, Naval Parachutist, and Expeditionary Warfare designations.
His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
