Command Master Chief Brandy L. Gennette is a native of Stockton, California. A graduate of Linden High School in Linden, California, Gennette enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended recruit basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in June 1996. Upon completing boot camp Gennette reported to Quartermaster Apprenticeship School, also in Great Lakes.
Her assignments as a Quartermaster (QM) include the USS Bataan (LHD 5), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, and USS Fletcher (DD 992), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where she served as a member of the navigation department.
In April 2001, she converted to the Master-At-Arms (MA) rating and attended MA Apprenticeship School along with the Military Working Dog (MWD) Course in San Antonio, Texas. Her assignments as an MA includes, Naval Station Norfolk Security Department MWD, Naval Station Rota Spain Security Department Kennel Master, Commander Navy Region Northwest Regional Kennel Master, Commander Pacific Fleet AT Officer/Fleet Kennel Master, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Physical Security specialist, U.S. Fleet Forces, CART/FEP assessor at NSA Bahrain, Operations DLCPO. Her previous command was USS George Washington (CVN 73). She is currently serving as Command Master Chief aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81).
Gennette is a graduate of Class 203 Purple from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy. She is a graduate of the Command Master Chief course, September 2020. Additionally, she has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Trident University and is pursuing her master’s degree in Leadership from Trident University.
Gennette’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Insignia Aviation Warfare, Expeditionary Warfare Insignia, and other various unit and service awards.
