 Capt. David Snee, a native of Millington, Tennessee, and son of a Force Master Chief, is a 1995 graduate of The University of Memphis, where he earned his commission and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He also holds a master’s degree in Information Systems and Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill.  In 2017, he was a Secretary of Defense Executive Fellow at Shell Oil Company.

Snee’s sea duty assignments include: Division Officer tours aboard USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG 49) and USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67); Department Head tour aboard USS O’Kane (DDG 77); Flag Aide assignment with the Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet; Executive Officer and Commanding Officer aboard USS Hopper (DDG 70), where he completed an eight-month deployment to 5th and 7th Fleet operating as the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) commander earning the Battle “E” Award and the Secretary of the Navy Energy Conservation Award; and most recently, Commanding Officer USS Vicksburg (CG 69).

Ashore, Snee’s assignments include: NROTC Instructor at Virginia Tech; Deputy EA to the Deputy CNO for Operations and Plans (OPNAV N3N5); Japan and China Country Director on The Joint Staff (J5); Branch Head for Integration and Interoperability in OPNAV N9I; Deputy for Task Force Netted Navy; and Director of Readiness Integration at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.  

Snee’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards).  Additionally, CAPT Snee was a Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Graduate in 1995 and Pacific Fleet Tactician of the Year in 2005.
